Moving from networking to internet marketing to inbound marketing

Marketing isn’t the same as it used to be. These days, you can’t just buy a newspaper ad or a television commercial and expect people to flock to you. Thanks to the internet, marketing has changed completely.

Small and mid-sized businesses now have access to millions of people and marketing needs to be done differently. Thankfully, inbound marketing makes it easier for small businesses to be hugely successful by using the internet to market themselves.

Normal face-to-face networking can definitely bring in clients, but you can only reach so many people this way, you can only attend so many meetings in a day and there aren’t limitless networking opportunities in each town or city. Expanding your reach through your current customers can help, but you can only reach so far.

After you’ve gone the traditional route, you probably started with internet marketing. A website was designed, but how does traffic get to your site? SEO is an ongoing process and many of these strategies work really well, but what inbound marketing does is spread out your message. Instead of trying to rank high in search engines or running costly ads in newspapers, inbound marketing helps you build relationships online so that people come to you.
