If you want to make a success of your inbound marketing strategy, we have one word for you: surveys. These allow you to collect critical data which can be used to make better business decisions, plan your budget more effectively and actually boost your inbound marketing efforts. Of course presenting your consumers with a long and boring survey is probably going to send them running, so you have to make sure you handle them correctly. Below are a few types of surveys that won’t bore your customers and will get you the essential information and data you need to make a success of your inbound marketing campaign:
- Customer satisfaction surveys – it is important to ask the right questions with this type of survey. You don’t want to just know if a customer was happy with a product, you want to know more – much more. Ask them if they found your blog or content helpful and if there are other topics they would like you to cover in the future. Also ask them if there are any other products and services they would like you to offer in the future.
- Win/Loss surveys – these are essential as you can either win a sale or lose it. Either way, you want to know why that consumer made the decision they did. Ask your consumer why they chose or declined your offer and find out what you could do to make the decision easier for them. If you know why your customers are buying, you can build on that. If you know why they aren’t buying, you can make targeted changes to rectify that.
- Employee surveys – these can be quite useful. Something many companies experience is a lack of communication between staff members, management and owners. How can you improve on your services and offerings if your staff members aren’t letting you know what your customers want? Ask questions about what customers are saying. Are there any constant or repeat complaints or requests from customers? Also find out if the staff members have any ideas on how the company can better serve the needs of customers.
